In the event of a pandemic, schools may be ordered closed in order to prevent the spread of illness. Homeschooling may help to minimize the interruption of learning.

The “Core Knowledge” movement is an educational reform based on the premise that a grade-by-grade core of common learning is necessary to ensure a sound and fair elementary education. E.D. Hirsch Jr. has written a series of books starting with What Your Kindergartner Needs To Know (through grade 8). As you explore the website, you will find lesson plans, articles, and many other resources to help you use the Core Knowledge Preschool Sequence and Core Knowledge Sequence K–8 in your classroom and school. There are free Spanish translations available of the Grader Books for Grades K-3 available in pdf format (see Resources section. )

MIT OCW is a free and open educational resource for faculty, students, and self-learners around the world. Is a publication of MIT course materials, 1,250 courses published as of December 2005. Does not require any registration. Is not a degree-granting or certificate-granting activity. Does not provide access to MIT faculty.

United States Distance Learning Association  internet connection required
The United States Distance Learning Association is a non-profit organization formed in 1987 and is located in Boston, Massachusetts. USDLA promotes the development and application of distance learning for education and training and serves the needs of the distance learning community by providing advocacy, information, networking and opportunity. Distance education and training constituencies served include pre-K-12 education, higher and continuing education, home schooling as well as business, corporate, military, government, and telehealth markets.
